Recently, Michelle and I decided to take some time to reflect together on 2021. We’ve always prided ourselves on being transparent. Therefore, we wanted to share all of our reflections with you—including both the highs and the lows.
2021 was quite the year; in fact, we:
- Were able to resume our paid speaking engagements and presented at six different summits/conferences.
- Offered our free educational workshops on various topics related to leadership and empowerment a total of eight times.
- Were interviewed for over 15 podcasts.
- Served over 40 clients.
- Increased our revenue by 45%.
Client Wins
We’d also like to share a little bit about the wins our clients experienced this year. We do this work because we’re passionate about serving women; we want to help them overcome whatever is in the way of them living out their full potential.
The One with Imposter Syndrome
Let’s start with one of our clients who came to us experiencing a bunch of imposter syndrome and burnout. She was really struggling to figure out what kind of change she could make as the sole breadwinner for her family. During our six months together, she discovered that the imposter syndrome she was feeling was actually due to role misalignment. She wasn’t the right fit for a role she had taken on; this was mostly because the money wasn’t really aligned with her skill set, desires, and what she enjoyed doing.
Throughout the work we did together in our program, she actually found a job, negotiated a significant pay raise, and took on a leadership position—and it perfectly matched both her expertise and skills. When she came to us, she had no idea this was even possible; that’s what a scarcity mindset does to you.
The One Who Moved
Another of our other clients moved during the pandemic to a place where she didn’t know anyone. She was feeling stuck, lost, overwhelmed, and had no idea how to create a vision for herself or even figure out what she wanted to do next. Through the RISE program, she used our process to create a vision, found a new job that she was able to negotiate with ease and confidence, and received a 50% raise. She also found a new passion for writing and was able to submit her work to be published—all during our time together.
She recently told us that in addition to her new job, which she loves, she’s most proud of her ability to know that she can navigate any situation that comes up for her with confidence. After all, confidence and possibility are the things that we all need to be reminded of on a consistent basis.
The One Who Felt Undervalued
We also work with a lot of financial/investment advisors. They generally come to us because they’re a part of male-dominated industries. As you know, we love to work with women that feel like they don’t have a supportive space for them. This client came to us feeling undervalued by management. However, she was also really loyal to her 10 years with this team and firm.
Through our work together, she uncovered some limiting beliefs. These beliefs gave her a sense of where she was undervaluing herself, which allowed her team to undervalue her too. This empowered her to ask for the work schedule she wanted, the pay that she deserved, and even the retroactive pay that she never advocated for previously. She told her firm, “I don’t feel like my bonuses commensurate with the value that I’ve brought to the organization,” and they agreed and made up for it. She never would have uncovered some of her strengths and her worthiness without going through the program with us.
Thank You
We are inspired and adore our clients, and we also acknowledge that it’s not always “puppies and rainbows.” It’s the same for us internally here at Wellth Works. We’ve been told “no” a lot, multiple speaking engagements have fallen through, we have a ton of our own stress, and we both experience burnout even though we love everything we do. In an effort to take our own advice, we closed the office last week for some much needed restorative time!
All this is to say: It hasn’t always been perfect. We really want to acknowledge that it’s the strength of each other, the partnership that we have with you, and the community around us that allows us to move through tough times.
That’s why we want you to know that we understand and are here for you. What we are committed to is consistently taking action. Even when you’re getting “nos” and it’s not working out, taking action is the only way you’re going to move through to progress, so hang in there. We know it’s been a tough year, and we’re here with you.
We understand as “Michelle and Ella” we’re the face of this company, but we have a team behind us that has been extremely instrumental in getting Wellth Works to where we are. We’d like to thank them as well. We’re so grateful for the work and support they provide and are so energized to see what 2022 brings.
We want to hear from you too! Please reach out and share your own reflections for the last year and what you’re looking forward to for this year. Here’s to 2022!
